It seems the ‘hope and praying’ of David Brooks, popularly know as Mavado is paying off. Long standing band against the entertainer, which prohibits him from entering the South American country GEORGETOWN, Guyana has been lifted.
Mavado was banned due to his lyrics promoting gang violence and anti-gay sentiments according to Presidential Adviser Odigna Lumumba.
Jamaican cultural officials reportedly lobbied for the ban to be lifted last month when Guyana President Bharrat Jagdeo visited the Caribbean island, but Lumumba declined to comment on the reason for the reversal.
Now after a year and a half,Lumumba said Friday that Mavado can perform in Guyana as scheduled on September 18 and 19.
